Will Maxine be the lucky candidate this year?

It’s a great pressure for Miss Philippines candidate Maxine Medina since we all know that Philippines won the title of Miss Universe last 2015. Who would expect that Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach would win the last pageant since it’s a very long time that a Filipina beauty shines in this competition. Miss Pia is the Third Filipina that won the Miss Universe title and the other two were Miss Universe Margarita Moran in 1973 and Miss Universe Gloria Diaz in 1969.

Miss Maxine Medina is an interior designer who graduated from De La Salle Collage of Saint Benilde. She is also a commercial and print model. Her journey as beauty queen starts as she won the Binibining Pilipinas pageant and was crowned for Miss Universe Philippines 2016 and the reigning of Miss Universe 2015, Pia Wurtzbach, which considered her as the representative of the Philippines this year.

The story of Hazel who fight for her own dream

Anyone can be like Gloria Diaz or Miss Pia Alonzo, you just16117711_751083728377270_1911133558_n have to believe in yourself if you think you have the guts to be one. But being a beauty queen is not just about beauty, it also takes brains, wit and talent. Philippines is a country of many anonymous beautiful faces, but just few get the unique chance to be on stage and compete for a title, walk in runway shows or shoot for famous catalogs.

As for Hazel, she was born with a supporting father and a loving mother in the small town Sirawai. Growing up, Hazel, whose real last name is Enconado, lived a bleak existence in a grim small town in Mindanao. She was raised with her feet on the ground and with respect to others. Her family strived and worked hard in order to live and survive.

Hazel also competed in a beauty pageant and won as Ms. Runners up, Ms. Photogenic, Ms. Perfect Smile and Ms. Shiny Hair. She might not be the winner but it’s the start of her own journey. By next year, she will be graduated as Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management in Jose Rizal Memorial State University.

Many of Hazel’s classmates considered her as very friendly and charming. She never becomes arrogant or different because of her success. A friend said of her, “She carried herself with dignity. I can’t say one bad thing about her.”

At least I can say that I was amazed by her natural and wonderful smile.
